Joy and sorrow:
The joy of being a geology student is that lectures are not monotonous on campus because there are fieldwork activities such as walking along rivers, seeing rock outcrops, mapping natural disaster areas, etc. This can train students’ way of thinking to be friendly with nature, increase the spirit of socialization when meeting with residents and be independent.
The grief that geology students cannot avoid is that in order to earn a bachelor’s degree, they must complete a final mapping project which can take months or even years, coupled with a final thesis, either by doing practical work in oil companies, mining or government agencies or on campus. These two things sometimes cause geology students to take a long time to earn a bachelor’s degree.
Testimonial:
Studying in the geological engineering department is not only due to following the weight of the courses both on campus and in the field, attendance or thesis preparation or practical work or field mapping final assignments. Being a geology student is actually fun, but for some it will feel the opposite. All we need to do is stay focused on our goals for college. Lecture is how we recognize our own potential, get closer to nature and its resources, control ego and emotions, build positive energy and realize it consistently step by step patiently until the end.
